All observations are recorded through iNaturalist, a free platform used by scientists, naturalists, researchers, and everyday citizens worldwide. Every photo you submit — plant, insect, reptile, mammal, bird — adds to the permanent scientific record for the Big Bend region.
Participating is simple:
- Download the free iNaturalist app (iOS or Android).
- Join the Big Bend Bioblitz Project on iNaturalist.
- Get outside and start observing! Focus your observations as close as possible to the planned border construction shown on the map below. You can also export this project area as a KML file for use in other mapping applications.
- Upload your photos — iNaturalist captures location data automatically.
No science background is required. iNaturalist's identification tools and expert community will help verify your observations.
